Glass specification before installation

Audi Windshield Replacement and Windscreen Repair in Dubai

Windshield work starts by deciding whether the damage is repairable and identifying the exact glass fitted to the vehicle. Camera brackets, rain or light sensors, acoustic or heated features, display-related glass and other equipment can change the correct part and the post-installation checks. We confirm the vehicle and equipment before approving repair or replacement.

Repair or replace

Not every chip needs a new windshield, and not every crack should be repaired

DamagePossible routeWhat affects the decision
Small chipResin repair may be consideredSize, depth, contamination, distance from the edge, exact location and surrounding glass condition
Short crackAssessment requiredLength, direction, edge involvement, branching, contamination and local repair limits
Damage in the driver’s primary view or camera-related areaReplacement may be preferable or requiredVisibility, optical distortion and the requirements of the exact camera/sensor system
Long, branching or edge crackReplacement is more likelyStructural integrity, spread risk and repair limitations
Multiple impacts or heavily damaged glassReplacement is generally the practical routeOverall glass condition and safe field of view
Repair limitation: Resin repair can stabilize suitable damage and improve appearance, but it does not guarantee that the mark will become invisible or that a repaired area can never spread later.
Exact glass matters

Windshield specification is confirmed for the vehicle and equipment

Glass construction and features

The exact windshield may differ by model, year, production specification and equipment. Depending on the vehicle, features can include acoustic treatment, heating elements, solar or infrared properties, display-related glass, antenna elements or other embedded functions.

Cameras and sensors

Rain or light sensors, front cameras and their brackets or optical areas must be compatible with the replacement glass where fitted. A physically fitting windshield is not enough if the required hardware or optical specification is wrong.

Trim and moldings

Moldings, clips, cowls and related trim are checked for condition and correct refitting. Some pieces can be reusable and others may need replacement depending on the exact installation.

No unsupported certification claim

We do not describe replacement glass as “Audi-certified” unless documented certification applies to that exact product. OEM-supplier glass is also not automatically Audi-branded.

Installation process

How windshield replacement is handled

1. Confirm the part. Match the vehicle, VIN details where needed, installed sensors/cameras and glass features before removal.
2. Protect the vehicle. Protect paint, dashboard and interior around the work area before cutting out the old glass.
3. Remove and inspect. Remove the windshield and required moldings, then inspect the bonding aperture for old adhesive condition, damage or corrosion that could affect installation.
4. Prepare the bonding surface. Use the compatible preparation, primer and urethane/adhesive system according to the product procedure and installation condition.
5. Position the correct glass. Install and align the windshield without assuming that visual fit alone confirms the correct specification.
6. Refit equipment. Reinstall applicable camera, sensor, mirror, trim, cowl or wiper components that were removed for the job.
7. Observe safe drive-away requirements. Adhesive cure and safe-drive-away guidance depends on the specific adhesive system and conditions. We provide the applicable instruction after installation rather than publishing a universal time.
ADAS and camera handling

Calibration is based on the exact Audi and procedure

Not every windshield replacement requires the same calibration process. If a windshield-mounted camera, relevant sensor or its mounting position is affected, or the applicable vehicle procedure requires calibration/basic settings after replacement, that work must be included before handover.

Before replacement

Record relevant warnings and fitted driver-assistance equipment. Diagnostic scanning may be appropriate when there are existing faults or when the system will be disturbed.

After replacement

Complete the required static calibration, dynamic calibration, basic settings or system verification for the exact vehicle where applicable. We do not promise that assistance features will “function flawlessly” without completing the required checks.

Sealing verification

Bond, trim and water ingress are checked after installation

After the adhesive has reached the appropriate stage for inspection, the installation is checked for glass position, visible bond/trim concerns and equipment refitting. A controlled water or leak check is used where appropriate to verify sealing. If wind noise or water ingress appears after replacement, the source should be diagnosed rather than dismissed as normal.

A bonded windshield is not universally a simple “gasket replacement” job. The exact vehicle can use bonded glass with separate moldings, trims or seals, so the installed system is identified before quoting related parts.
Parts and glass choices

Genuine Audi, OEM-supplier and aftermarket glass

Genuine Audi glass is normally used. When requested, compatible and suitable OEM-supplier or aftermarket alternatives may be discussed subject to availability and the exact vehicle specification. The approved part route must still match required camera/sensor brackets, optical areas, dimensions and other fitted equipment.

Genuine Audi

Audi-branded part supplied for the confirmed vehicle specification when available and approved.

OEM-supplier or aftermarket

May be considered when requested and suitable. Supplier status alone does not mean the glass carries Audi branding or every feature required by the vehicle.

Inspection-dependent estimate

What changes Audi windshield replacement cost

Pricing can change with the exact glass specification, genuine/OEM-supplier/aftermarket route, cameras and sensors, moldings or clips, adhesive system, aperture or corrosion repair discovered after removal, and calibration or diagnostic work. A reliable final quote follows identification of the glass and equipment rather than a generic model-only price.

Common questions

Audi windshield replacement FAQs

Can a chipped Audi windshield be repaired?

Some chips can be repaired, but size, depth, contamination, edge proximity, location and the surrounding glass condition determine suitability. Damage affecting the driver’s view or a camera-related area may require a different decision.

Does every Audi need ADAS calibration after windshield replacement?

No. The requirement depends on the exact vehicle, fitted camera/sensor systems, what was removed or disturbed, and the applicable repair procedure. Where calibration or basic settings are required, they should be completed before handover.

Do you use Audi-certified windshields?

We do not make a blanket Audi-certified claim. Genuine Audi glass is normally used, while suitable OEM-supplier or aftermarket alternatives may be discussed when requested. Any certification claim would require evidence for the exact product.

When can I drive after a windshield replacement?

The safe drive-away time depends on the adhesive system, environmental conditions and product procedure. We provide the applicable instruction after installation instead of using one fixed time for every vehicle.

Can a windshield leak after replacement?

A correctly prepared and bonded installation should be sealed, but leaks can occur if there is a bonding, aperture, trim or installation issue. We inspect the installation and perform an appropriate leak/water check after the required curing stage.

Can I get an exact quote from a photo?

Photos help assess visible damage, but the exact glass specification, equipment, parts route and any calibration requirement must also be identified. Damage or corrosion at the bonding aperture may only become visible after removal.
