Cover and manifold gaskets

The valve-cover gasket seals the top cover and commonly relates to external oil leakage. An exhaust-manifold gasket seals an exhaust joint. These are different repairs with different access requirements; neither should be confused with removing the cylinder head simply because the word gasket appears on a report.

Does milky residue on the oil cap mean the engine is damaged?
