Wing mirror glass, folding and housing

Audi side mirror replacement in Dubai

Audi side mirror replacement can mean new glass, a damaged housing or a complete assembly. Send photos of the affected side so we can check the damage, match the fitted features and arrange an inspection in Al Quoz 4.

If only the mirror glass is cracked and the backing, heater connection, housing and adjustment system remain sound, glass-only replacement may be possible. A broken mount, damaged housing, failed folding mechanism or incompatible electronics can require a larger component or complete assembly.

Replacement options

Glass-only or complete mirror replacement?

Glass, caps and some lamps can be replaced separately when their mountings remain sound. Check the damage beneath the visible surface before ordering a complete assembly.

Observed damage
Possible repair level
What must be confirmed
Cracked glass
Glass and backing unit when the carrier, movement and housing remain sound.
Glass type, heating, dimming, warning display, connectors and retaining points.
Scratched or broken cap
Cap repair, refinishing or cap replacement when the housing beneath is undamaged.
Mounting tabs, surface depth, color and any indicator or trim involvement.
Indicator not working
Indicator unit, connector or wiring repair may be possible without replacing the mirror.
Impact damage, moisture, supply, ground, command and LED unit condition.
Glass will not adjust
Carrier, adjustment motor, switch, wiring or module diagnosis before assembly replacement.
Both movement axes, switch input, motor sound, scan evidence and connector condition.
Mirror will not fold
Folding mechanism, base or electrical repair according to mechanical play and command response.
Manual damage, hinge resistance, synchronization, motor operation and learned settings.
Assembly hangs from door
Complete mirror and possible door-mounting repair.
Base, reinforcement, door skin, wiring loom, interior trim and water sealing.
A cheaper-looking mirror can become expensive when its equipment does not match
Connector shape, wire count and paint color are not enough. The replacement must support the functions installed on the vehicle and communicate correctly where control modules are involved.

Part identification

Match your mirror’s features

Two cars from the same Audi model range can use different glass, connectors, folding systems, caps and assistance features. The safest order is vehicle identification, equipment confirmation and physical comparison.

We first establish left or right side, model year, body style and the functions the original mirror performed. Heating, memory, auto-dimming, power fold, reverse-dip behavior, integrated indicator and a side-assist display can alter the compatible part. If a camera or other calibrated system is present, its installation and post-repair requirements are assessed separately.

Part source is discussed openly. A new genuine part, OEM-supplier option, quality aftermarket component or verified used assembly can have different availability, finish, included components and support. The cheapest unit is not economical if it deletes a function, triggers a fault, fits poorly or needs to be replaced twice.

Parts inside the mirror

Glass, movement and fitted features

The visible shell can look simple, but equipment changes by model, year, market and option. We inspect the individual components so damage to a replaceable cover does not automatically mean a complete electronic mirror.

Glass and backing

Mirror glass
Flat, convex or aspherical glass may include heating, auto-dimming or a blind-spot warning display. Shape and connector arrangement must match.

Backing plate
The glass clips to a carrier. Broken retaining points can prevent safe glass-only installation even when the adjustment motor still moves.

Heating and dimming
Heated and auto-dimming functions use different glass and circuits. Visual similarity does not prove electrical compatibility.

Movement and mounting

Adjustment drive
Horizontal and vertical movement can fail through a motor, gear, switch, door module, wiring or a displaced glass carrier.

Folding hinge
A loose, noisy or unsynchronized folding mirror needs mechanical and electrical checks before the fold motor or full base is condemned.

Door mounting
A hard impact can damage the mirror base, door skin, reinforcement, connector or trim. The door must hold the replacement squarely and securely.

Housing and electronics

Housing and cap
Painted cap damage may be local. Cracked internal tabs, impact distortion or water entry can extend the repair into the main housing.

Indicator light
An integrated turn signal may fail from impact, moisture, connector damage, wiring or an LED unit rather than the complete mirror.

Assistance equipment
Depending on equipment, the mirror may support a warning display, memory, camera or other functions that affect part choice and verification.

Adjustment, folding and heating

Check the electrical fault first

An impact can break a component, but an adjustment, heating or folding fault can also begin in the door switch, wiring, connector, module or settings.

A

No glass adjustment

We compare switch input, both adjustment axes, motor sound, physical carrier movement and electrical response. A glass displaced from its backing can mimic a failed motor.

B

No power folding

Check the vehicle setting, command, hinge resistance, motor behavior and whether one or both sides fail. A mechanically forced mirror can damage the gear or base.

C

Heater does not clear

Mirror heating may depend on vehicle logic and conditions. Glass element resistance, connectors, wiring, command and comparison with the other side guide diagnosis.

D

Indicator stays dark

Inspect the lamp unit for cracking or moisture, then test connector and command conditions. A body-side indicator fault is separated from a mirror-only problem.

E

Warning display missing

If the mirror includes a side-assist warning, glass compatibility and the wider system status both matter. Replacing display glass does not repair an external sensor or control fault.

F

Memory position drifts

Confirm the complaint, saved settings, movement, seat-memory relationship and any scan evidence. A mechanical slip and a control issue require different solutions.

Fault codes are clues, not automatic replacement instructions. They are interpreted with the physical damage, live behavior and circuit checks, then retained with the repair record when useful.
Moisture changes the test plan. A cracked indicator, open housing seam or damaged glass backing can admit water without leaving an obvious external pool. Green connector corrosion, intermittent folding, a heater that works only occasionally or several functions failing together can point toward a shared supply or connector problem. Drying the area may change the symptom without repairing the cause. We inspect the entry route, terminal condition and affected circuit before deciding whether cleaning, wiring repair or component replacement is dependable.
Before workshop travel

Before driving with mirror damage

A mirror that has been clipped, folded forward or torn from its base can continue damaging paint, trim and wiring. The immediate goal is to prevent detachment while keeping evidence visible for inspection.

01

Photograph every angle

Capture the glass, front edge, outer cap, folding base and door mounting. A wider image shows whether the door skin or trim moved with the impact.

02

Avoid repeated folding

Do not keep operating a noisy or crooked powered mirror. A damaged hinge or gear can strip further, and wiring can be pulled as the base changes position.

03

Check safe visibility

Loose glass, sharp edges, exposed wiring and a mirror that cannot provide a stable view need prompt attention. Call if you are unsure whether normal workshop travel is sensible.

Temporary tape can damage paint, block movement and hide cracks. If the assembly must be secured, avoid pulling on wiring or forcing it into a position that increases door or window damage.
Impact assessment

Check the door after an impact

When a mirror has been struck or torn away, fitting a new assembly is only half the decision. The mounting surface and cable route must support it correctly.

We inspect the triangular base, fasteners, door skin, internal reinforcement, connector, wiring loom, trim panel and water barrier. Distortion can make a replacement sit at the wrong angle or leave a wind-noise and water-entry path. Paint damage around the base may also need proper body repair rather than being hidden beneath a new mirror.

If the impact affected the door handle, glass, regulator, trim or panel alignment, that work is separated and explained. The dedicated Audi door repair service covers the door mechanism and structure. Larger collision or refinishing work is quoted separately after the surrounding damage is inspected.

Do not tape over the evidence before inspection when avoidable. Photograph the damage from the front, rear and door side. If the mirror is hanging, secure it only enough to prevent further paint, glass or wiring damage.

Repair sequence

How your mirror is replaced

The process protects useful parts, prevents a specification mismatch and verifies every installed function before handover.

1

Document the damage

Confirm the affected side, impact history, visible condition, functions lost and whether workshop travel appears sensible.

2

Identify the specification

Use vehicle data, original part details and physical features to establish every function the replacement must retain.

3

Diagnose the failed layer

Separate glass, carrier, cap, housing, hinge, motors, wiring, controls and door-mounting damage before ordering.

4

Approve the quotation

State the part source, included pieces, paint work, labour, wiring repair and any verified setup requirement.

5

Install and finish

Protect trim and paint, route the loom correctly, secure the base and assemble glass and covers without forcing retainers.

6

Verify every function

Check fit, adjustment, folding, heating, dimming, indicator, memory and fitted warning or camera functions as applicable.

Parts and included equipment

Compare the available parts

Part source affects price, availability, included components and support, but every option still has to match the car. We explain what is included before comparing quotations.

Part choiceUseful whenCheck before approval
New genuine assemblyExact equipment match and new-part support are priorities.Whether glass, cap, indicator, motor and paint are included or supplied separately.
Traceable OEM-supplier componentA recognised original-equipment supplier offers a directly compatible service component.Manufacturer identity, part number, equipment coverage, packaging and written support.
Aftermarket componentA verified option meets the required fit and functions at a different cost.Glass quality, heating, motor behavior, folding, connectors, finish and return support.
Used original assemblyA scarce configuration is available in sound condition and can be verified.Donor specification, hidden impact, corrosion, folding play, glass features and coding implications.
Compare complete scope, not a seller label. A bare housing cannot be compared directly with a complete painted assembly. A product description alone does not prove who manufactured the part or whether it matches the vehicle. The quotation should state the repair layer, included pieces, finish work and post-install function checks.

Photos for your mirror estimate

A single full-car image rarely shows the damaged layer. Clear close and wide views help us separate likely glass, cap, housing, base and door involvement before the vehicle arrives.

01

Close-up of damage

Photograph cracked glass, broken tabs, cap damage, indicator lens and exposed wiring without moving loose pieces unnecessarily.

02

Mirror and door view

Show the mirror base, triangular mount, door skin, window line and surrounding paint so connected impact damage is visible.

03

Front-edge angle

This angle helps reveal housing separation, indicator gaps, folding position and whether the assembly sits squarely on the door.

04

What still works

State whether adjustment, folding, heating, dimming, memory, indicator and any warning display still operate.

Photos support a first review, but the final part match may still require the VIN, original part number and physical inspection.

Cost guidance

Audi side mirror replacement cost

The installed price depends on the damaged part, your mirror’s equipment and the work included. Compare glass replacement, mechanism repairs and complete assemblies separately.

Tier 2

Motor or housing work

Adjustment drive, folding components, housing, internal supports or wiring when the base and wider door area remain sound.

Tier 3

Complete equipped assembly

A matched mirror with the required glass, folding, heating, dimming, memory, indicator, warning display or camera equipment.

Tier 4

Mirror plus door damage

Mounting repair, loom work, trim replacement, door correction or refinishing in addition to the mirror itself.

A comparable written quotation should identify the damaged layer, part source and condition, included glass, cap and indicator, paint or refinishing, installation labour, wiring repair, VAT where applicable, and coding or calibration only when the fitted system requires it.
Send the damage and the original functions for a useful first review
Include the Audi model, year, left or right side, a close photograph, a full door-side photograph and whether adjustment, folding, heating, dimming, indicator or warning functions still work. Completion depends on diagnosis, part availability, paint work and connected door damage.

After fitting

Check the view and every function

Fit and visibility

The mirror must sit securely against the door, hold its position and provide the correct view from the driving seat. The glass should be properly retained, and caps, indicator lenses and trim should meet without open gaps. Wiring needs its intended route so folding does not pinch or stretch it.

Check the repaired side in both adjustment directions. Where fitted, confirm folding, reverse dip and saved positions under the correct operating conditions. A different glass curvature can change apparent distance, so an incorrect glass type should not be accepted simply because it clips into the housing.

Camera and warning functions

A surround-view camera mounted in the mirror may require calibration after relevant replacement or disturbance. The need is checked against the vehicle’s repair procedure. A normal-looking image alone does not confirm correct alignment of a calibrated camera system.

A side-assist warning display in the mirror is different from the system’s sensing hardware elsewhere on the car. Replacing the display or mirror will not correct an unrelated sensor fault. Record any remaining warning, image problem or disabled function at collection and agree the next inspection if it remains outside the mirror repair.

Care after installation

Follow any paint or finish-care instructions supplied with the repair. Avoid forcing a powered folding mechanism by hand, and report new looseness, wind noise or intermittent operation. Mirror replacement has no universal mileage interval; impact damage, glass condition and function determine the need for work.

Common questions

Side mirror replacement questions

Can you replace only the Audi side mirror glass?

Yes, when the damage is limited to compatible glass and the backing, retainers, adjustment carrier, wiring and housing remain sound. Heating, auto-dimming and warning-display equipment must match the original specification.

When does the complete mirror assembly need replacement?

A complete or larger assembly may be needed when the base, housing, folding hinge, internal supports or several integrated components are damaged. We inspect each layer first so usable parts are not discarded without reason.

Why will my Audi mirror not fold?

Possible causes include a forced or worn hinge, damaged folding gear, motor fault, wiring or connector issue, vehicle setting, control command or synchronization problem. Testing separates mechanical resistance from an electrical fault.

Can you repair a mirror indicator without replacing everything?

Sometimes. If the housing and wiring are sound and the indicator is available separately, the lamp unit may be the correct scope. Impact cracks, moisture, connector damage and electrical command should be checked first.

Does a replacement mirror need programming?

Requirements depend on the vehicle and equipment. Some replacements need only correct installation and function checks, while certain memory, camera, warning or control-related configurations may need setup, coding or calibration. We confirm this from the installed system rather than assuming.

Can you match the painted mirror cap?

The existing cap may be reusable if its retainers and surface are sound. Otherwise the correct cap can be sourced and finished as required. Color code, current paint condition and adjacent-panel appearance are considered before refinishing.

What photos should I send for an estimate?

Send one close image of the damage, one wider image showing the mirror and door, and a view from the front edge if safe. Include the model, year, side and a list of functions that still operate.

Is it sensible to drive with a broken side mirror?

That depends on stable rearward visibility, sharp edges, loose parts, exposed wiring and whether the assembly could detach or interfere with the door or window. Call and describe the condition before driving when any of these risks are present.

What information is needed to match the correct mirror?

The workshop normally needs the VIN, model year, body style, left or right side and every original function. Part numbers, connector layout, glass type, folding, heating, dimming, memory, indicator, warning display, camera equipment and cap finish may also need confirmation.

Al Quoz 4 workshop

Arrange your mirror appointment

Call with the affected side, Audi model and year, or send close photographs before visiting. Include the functions that still work and whether the assembly is secure. The VIN and original part number may be needed before a replacement is ordered, especially when the car has memory, dimming or camera equipment.

An available glass unit and a painted complete assembly have different preparation needs. Parts sourcing, finish matching, electrical diagnosis and door damage can extend the visit. Confirm whether the car needs to stay after inspection and whether paint or setup work is included in the expected completion time.

Identify the smallest correct repair

Book your mirror replacement

Call the workshop or share the Audi model, year, left or right side, one close damage photo, one full door-side photo and the functions that still work. We will check whether the likely scope is glass, cap, indicator, motor, folding base, housing or a complete assembly.
